About the client
A leading U.S.-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, known for pioneering sustainable and high-performance electric vehicles, setting new standards in the automotive industry.
The problem
The client faced inefficiencies in their vehicle wiring processes, with disconnected data points and fragmented wiring information causing delays, errors, and rework. Updates to wiring designs were slow to propagate across systems, leading to inconsistencies, high licensing costs, and reduced productivity. The client needed a centralized tool to consolidate wiring data, provide real-time updates, and streamline manufacturing workflows.
The solution
The client, with support from Turing, developed a web-based Wiring Design Portal (WDP) to centralize all wiring data and improve vehicle manufacturing and servicing processes:
- Front-end development: Turing built the WDP using React with React Hooks to create an intuitive, real-time interface without page reloads. TypeScript was used for better code maintainability, and Redux was integrated for state management.
- Backend integration: AWS Lambda was used for serverless computing, providing scalability and cost optimization. DocumentDB was implemented to store hierarchical wiring data, enabling fast querying and real-time updates.
- System integrations: The WDP was integrated with SAP for real-time supply chain insights, Boomi for workflow automation, and Enovia for product development tracking, ensuring seamless data flow and process efficiency.
