Job description
Job responsibilities
- Manage, maintain and monitor a multitude of NoSQL database clusters, ensuring obligations to SLAs
- Manage both in-house and SaaS solutions in the public cloud
- Diagnose, mitigate and communicate database-related issues to relevant stakeholders
- Design and Implement best practices for planning, provisioning, tuning, upgrading, and decommissioning of database clusters
- Maintain general backup/recovery/DR of data solutions
- Work with the engineering and operations team to automate new approaches for scalability, reliability, and performance
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a database engineer (rare exceptions for highly skilled developers)
- Extensive experience in provisioning & managing NoSQL databases
- Working knowledge in any of the following database management systems - ElasticSearch, MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, and Hbase
- Proficiency in at least one high-level scripting language, like Python, Bash, Perl, R, etc.
- Experience with deployment orchestration, automation, and security configuration management using Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, etc.
- Comfortable working with AWS and GCP
- Hands-on development experience in Linux/Unix environments
- Expertise in Oracle RAC, ASM, GoldenGate/ DataGuard, AWR, ASH, and LINUX
- Familiarity with alternative DB technologies, like MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
- Have strong English written and verbal communication skills
- Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) and a 4 hour overlap with US time zone
Preferred skills
- Knowledge of TCP/IP stack, Load balancer, Networking is preferred
- Oracle Certification like OCA/OCP is good to have
- Proven ability to drive projects to completion
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment
