Job description
Job responsibilities
- Participate in the assessment of the company’s big data infrastructure
- Design, develop and customize distributed Hadoop applications
- Identify and troubleshoot application bugs and maintain the data security
- Design and implement MapReduce programs and other components of the Hadoop ecosystem
- Develop scripts and tools for data analysis and processing
- Collaborate with other teams, including QA and other engineering teams, to implement data security best practices
- Create data tracking programs and maintain documentation for Hadoop-based systems
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science or IT (or equivalent)
- 3+ years of experience in Hadoop application development (rare exceptions for highly skilled developers)
- Working knowledge of Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), MapReduce, YARN, and related technologies
- Strong grasp of HBase, ZooKeeper, Hive, Kafka, and other Apache software
- Familiarity with database technologies like MySQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra
- Strong understanding of data loading tools such as Flume and Sqoop
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and experience in working with large datasets.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems
- Fluent in English to communicate effectively
- Ability to work 40 hours/week with a 4-hour overlap with US time zones
Preferred skills
- Understanding of security aspects of Hadoop and related technologies
- Good knowledge of back-end technologies, specifically Java, Node.js, and Python
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
