Job description
Job responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions
- Assist in the optimization of the platform for faster execution
- Implement security and data protection practices
- Identify and fix development bottlenecks and bugs
- Contribute to integrating user-facing elements designed by the front-end team
- Connect applications with additional web servers and maintain APIs
- Experiment, design, build APIs, data storage solutions, and other engineering projects
- Work with a wide range of systems and technologies and address complex challenges
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- A minimum 3+ years of back-end development experience using Ruby (rare exceptions for highly skilled developers)
- Extensive experience in Ruby programming, as well as Ruby on Rails and back-end frameworks
- Proficiency in OOP and writing command-line apps using Ruby libraries, like Resque and RSpec
- Hands-on experience with REST API design and services development
- In-depth understanding of AWS and SQL
- Expertise in code versioning tools, like Git, SVN, Mercurial, and testing tools, like, Jira, Cypress, etc.
- Sound knowledge of server-side templating languages
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) with a 4 hour overlap with US time zone
Preferred skills
- Basic familiarity with front-end technologies, like JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Working experience with AngularJS or BackboneJS
- Familiarity with MVC, Mocking, RESTful, and ORM
- Good understanding of Agile development environment
