How to become a PHP/Vue.js developer ?

A PHP/Vue.js developer is a software developer who works with the PHP programming language to design, test, and implement software. PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) is a scripting language that allows developers to quickly create dynamically produced content and is often used to enhance web pages' functionality. The most progressive JavaScript framework is Vue.js. It's a free, open-source JavaScript framework for creating interactive web interfaces. It's one of the most well-known frameworks for web development. The view layer is the focus of Vue.js. For front-end development, it may be smoothly incorporated into huge projects. A PHP/Vue.js developer job is to create applications, websites, and program. PHP developers are a specialised subset of the 'Developer' role, depending on their job description. They are also known as software developers or web developers in a broader sense.

What is the scope in PHP/Vue.js development?

According to DAXX, there were more than 5,000,000 PHP/Vue.js developer jobs in the world in 2013, up to 5,500,000 by September 2018. For context, the number of software engineers globally was 23,000,000 in 2018, regardless of software development language expertise, and is predicted to reach 26,400,000 by the end of 2019, and 27,700,000 by the end of 2023.

By 2026, the US Bureau of Labour Statistics predicts a 15% rise in web development jobs, including PHP/Vue.js jobs. Although there have been debates over whether PHP is a dying language, it is utilised by nearly 80% of the world's websites and has a sizable fan base. New languages may come and go, but PHP will always be around, especially if it evolves in tandem with more recent languages.

What are the roles and responsibilities of a PHP/Vue.js developer?

PHP/Vue.js developers job is to follow a method known as the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), which consists of six stages: analysis, design, development and testing, implementation, documentation, and assessment. They work with computers on a daily basis and are frequently found in teams at large corporations developing new software, at digital agencies, or in a company's IT department. They, like other software developers, may work on a contract basis as freelancers. The numerous tasks that PHP/Vue.js developers’ job is expected to complete keep them quite busy. These include, but are by no means limited to:

  • Create, test, and launch new, innovative website apps in a fast and effective manner, while also collaborating with other developers to satisfy data acquisition needs.
  • Identify and fix CSS, HTML, and scripting errors that can arise on a range of platforms and browsers.
  • Test websites on a variety of browsers (mobile, laptop, tablet) and address any issues that arise as a result of client input.
  • Research and investigate many architectural aspects of the system design process, such as web usability, website performance, and database design. Examine and compare several options for integrating new application functionality.
  • Communicate and work with other development teams and corporate management to solve problems, set priorities, pick the best solutions, or develop criteria for new material.
  • Product features, budget, programming languages, communication protocols, functionality, structure, and deadlines should all be detailed in the website specifications.
  • Reading, ongoing education, and attendance at appropriate professional courses, organisations, and conferences will keep you up to speed on the latest programming methodologies and internet technologies.
  • Create and fine-tune style rules for the website's content, and choose the most effective design tools, programming languages, and applications. Develop plans for keeping the website updated and current at all times, recommend performance enhancements.

How to become a PHP/Vue.js developer?

It is possible to work in a PHP/Vue.js job remote without formal qualifications; however, qualifications in computer science may be advantageous.

  • To begin, you should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, preferably computer science, software engineering, or programming. Keep in mind that this degree is not required; sometimes, verifiable work experience in one of the above fields will be considered instead.
  • Then, of course, you should learn how to program in PHP. There are numerous PHP learning resources available online, as well as classes provided by colleges, adult education programs, and online learning institutes. Keep in mind that there isn't just one PHP course to choose from; there are Basic and Advanced courses to consider.
  • The next step is to put what you've learned into action. The more you experiment with PHP/Vue.js, the more at ease you'll become. Begin by writing something in pure code, then progress to more involved programming as you become more familiar with the language.
  • Creating a PHP/Vue.js developer resume giving proper insights into technical skills and past experiences can also be helpful
  • Finally, ambitious PHP/Vue.js developers should get certified, which may be done by attending a course and passing a certification test. With that qualification, you can show potential employers that you are a PHP programming expert.

Skills required to become a PHP/Vue.js developer

The first step is to begin learning the fundamental skills that will enable you to obtain high-paying PHP/Vue.js developer jobs. Let's go over what you need to know!

1. HTML and CSS

  • HTML and CSS are the web's foundations. The computer language HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is used to construct web pages. HTML is used to structure a website and also to store data for the website's content. CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is the language used to define the presentation of an HTML document. CSS adds style to things to make them look better.

Single File Components are used to create Vue applications (SFC). An SFC enables you to specify

  • Logic in JavaScript
  • Template for HTML code
  • CSS design

Everything is in a single file. Vue will render HTML from the template for the user to see. Improve your HTML and CSS skills so that you can properly display items on the page. You should be comfortable with creating semantic HTML tags. CSS, Flexbox, or CSS Grid can be used to style your application.

2. JavaScript basics

Vue applications will have dynamic data and will respond to user input and interaction rather than displaying static data. The logic for this behaviour in your SFC will be written in JavaScript. The web is becoming a more dynamic platform. Every year, new JavaScript standards are released. These standards are introducing more and more powerful features. Object destructuring, template literals, new ways to declare variables, and new Array methods are among the new features. Using current JavaScript will improve your development productivity while also allowing you to write better, more understandable code.

3. Git

As software developers, we need to know how to use Git. Git is an open-source version control system (VCS). Git, at its most basic, allows you to track changes in your files and simplifies collaboration on files and projects with multiple people. You'll need to do two things to get started with Git. Install Git on your computer first. Second, to store your code, create an account on a cloud-based platform such as GitHub or GitLab. As you write new code or modify existing code, your changes will be saved in your GitHub account. Using Git, other developers can contribute to your existing code base.

4. Vue

To be a successful Vue developer, you must understand the fundamentals of the Vue programming language. The Vue documentation is a great place to begin learning how to use Vue. Vue has a straightforward philosophy that makes it simple to get started. Vue is a worthy consideration as a first JavaScript framework to learn due to its low barrier to entry. If you already have an application, you can use Vue in only one part of the front end. Alternatively, you can create an entire application in Vue. Vue will scale in accordance with the size of your application.

5. Vue CLI

The Vue team has created a command-line interface (CLI) to aid in the development of Vue-based projects. The CLI gives your Vue project instant access to the best front-end development tools. It also seamlessly integrates them with sensible defaults. At the same time, it enables simple configuration and customization to meet your specific requirements. Vue CLI 3 now uses a plugin-based architecture. Plugins can be added at any stage of the development process. Plugins allow you to spend more time developing and less time configuring. Developers can create their own plugins and presets thanks to the plugin architecture.

6. Other programming languages

Knowing only PHP code will not get you far in a remote job PHP/Vue.js in a competitive job market. To be able to spot and correct errors in web design, a solid understanding of front-end programming languages such as JavaScript, CSS, and HTML is required. Knowing these languages well will also help you understand how they affect the user experience (UX), which is the end goal of most programming projects. It is also essential to be familiar with databases (mainly MySQL but also common alternatives such as PostgreSQL and Oracle). In the end, one of the most crucial ways to become a useful part of any development team is to build and maintain a well-rounded technical skill set.
